BIG BOSS - Highlighting The Third SEX....! (Ali Saleem Khusra urf Begum Nawazish Ali)

It was really anonymous to find that yesterday in 'BIG BOSS' people were nominating Ali Saleem Khusra urf Begum Nawazish Ali because they were not understanding what she /he is ......I have found some question in me to find actually why this happen to the third sex,She anchors in Pakistani TV shows also still participants were agree to stay with a dacoit Seema Parihar who has killed so many people but no to begum.

Begum Nawazish Ali
The dictionary meaning of eunuch, Hijra is a castrated man (akin to oxen). A hermaphrodite is one possessing both male and female organs and a transvestite is one who chooses a sex other than he/she is born. The Hindus puranas and epics mention the courageous feats of true hermaphrodites who are referred to with dignity, as third sex. It was during the Arab attack in the 8th  century and later the Mughals, that castration of males for some specific jobs - like guarding the harem- took place on a large scale. . In India culturally, impotency, infertility, homosexuality are also linked to Hijras, which is totally incorrect. Depending on the region, they worship Bahuchara Mata (North), Renuka (South) and even Shiva as Ardhanareeswara.

Most Hijras live in utterly poor conditions in the outskirts of the cities. They have virtually no status in the society, no proper employment and lots of health hazards. Their income comes from begging, as sex workers, (these sexless marvels are sometimes attracted by perverted males. Most of the brothels have a large contingent of Hijras.), in ceremonies(like weddings, birth of a boy) where either they are invited or they gate crash, as debt recovery agents ( in Bihar as Tax collectors and a unique method started by one Mr. B.R.Shetty, as loan recover agents) and sometimes in movies. Violence against them in police stations, by Hijra Mafia, (who control them) and even in public places, is very brutal. People believe that they have special powers as they do not engage in sexual activities and quickly part away with their money. Some others believe that Lord Rama has bestowed them special powers.

But spare a thought for them. They are marginalized by us and even to call then human is questioned. They are born of humans, they eat what we eat, they speak like us, and they think like us, they too have a heart and would like to be loved. Then why do we shun them, treat them worse than animals, as social outcast?!! We curse them, insult them and treat them like leprosy patients, as untouchables. Don’t they have a sense of belonging? The Human Rights fight child labour, women rights, religious rights etc but they are mute spectators when it comes to the Hijras. They are punished for something they are not responsible. These hijras practice outlandish rituals so that they are never born again as a eunuch, but to be born as a man or a woman in the next birth. It is said that after death the other members of their community beat the dead 27 times with chappals so that the person is never born again as a Girl!! The media too adds its black paint. They project them as a sinister group with criminal activities and the films show them in very poor light.

All said and done it is difficult for us to associate with them in the present era. The way they approach us, the way they squeeze us, leaves little room for us to smile. If we become too friendly with them, the society will think otherwise and shun us. However next time you encounter them, and after they leave, do not curse or  hate them, but think about them-the torture and suffering they already had, undergoing, and the dark tunnel they have to cross with out light-both  psychologically and physiologically, and then let your eyes shed a tear for them, feel for them  and let there be a silent prayer on your lips for them!!
